afternoon sister

Hello Loverlies,

So this is my first 'official' post on 0ctavia, and i'm incredibly excited! When i was asked by our dear [info]back_bones to guest blog, i nearly exploded at the computer keyboard. Having been an avid and faithful reader to 0ctavia for the past year or so, i am incredibly flattered to be contributing for the month to such an inspirational, fun, and creative collective. So.. just to tell you a little about myself:



My name is Lauren Pham and I am originally from San Marino/Pasadena, California. But I currently reside and go to school in beautiful, foresty Santa Cruz. Like all of you, I love fashion, music, film, design, interior design, and art. I am a blog addict (I currently am subscribed to over 20+ blogs on Google Reader, just to give you an idea). One day, I want to move to New York and Paris permanently, in which by that time I hope to be fluent in the French language (I'm in French 6 right now). My favorite animal is either the panda or the elephant. And I seriously believe that Will Smith in his Fresh Prince days is/was my lost soul mate.

As much as I'd like to pretend that the picture of the girl in the leaves in my intro post is me (what, with our similar taste in dressing and black hair), sadly it isn't true. Though you might all be interested to know that the photo is taken by Gia Coppola, Sofia's niece and star of the Fall A.P.C ad campaign. She is apart of a photography society known as the skull set. It is as I like to put it, a more refined and art-forward Cobrasnake (no severe and 70s porno flash; though Mark and Cory Kennedy do make cameos, so be forewarned). i love the yellow filter of the sun too, it makes it so nostalgic and 70s (in a appropriately 'virgin suicides' kind of way).

I want to move to Paris, very very much as well! And I also wish I could have a baby panda bear...that stayed a baby forever haha.

Also Fresh Prince is my life. I saw Will Smith in LA the last time I was there and he is just as dreamy in real life.

I am going to add you if you want to add back!

YES! what a small world. dan is one of best friends from santa cruz and was my next door neighbor when we were living in the dorms our freshman year! i see you go to berkely are you in his friends' erik's class?

i wouldn't doubt it...that is like a dream college!
she would probably fit in wonderfully. i love the whole coppola family tree.

me too! i still have the teen vogue article about her when they photographed her in her room in l.a. apparently she goes to Bard College, or so that's what my friend says who goes there.

Hey Lauren,

Lovely pictures, especially Red Floor Bandaid Toenail.

Apparently, Okt's got a big westcoast following. I fall on both sides, having grown up in Brooklyn, and now going to Mills College in Oakland.

thanks maya! i consider myself a bit bicoastal myself with relatives in manhattan whom i try to visit every summer before school. i love being part of both worlds.
