I've started an art/design/culture blog with a friend called SPACE BEAMS. We've recently started an art collective in Philadelphia of the same name and wanted to document what's going on in our collective minds. This winter break i got to visit the beautiful Simpson Hotel Bed and Breakfast in a small town called Duncan, out in eastern Arizona. Family friend, Deborah Mendelsohn completely revamped the Old West hotel from 1914, keeping its historic elegance but bringing a unique, earth friendly feel to the place. So first off so sorry guys for totally slacking on posts. School's been ruthless to me and I'm sure everyone else at Oktavia and well anywhere can agree in some way or another. This is going to be brief (cause I'm in Penn's Library and feel weird blogging when everyone else in researching quantum mechanics), but none the less I'm back with a post on Terrain at Styers new online shop!. Just in time for the holidays. For some reason my computer won't save an image of it but you can by a log that sprouts shitake mushrooms for up to 4 years!

So, this i believe takes gold as my favorite Spring 2010 Collection aside from the obvious Rachel Comey knockout! Phillip is such a genius to me. So consistent in presenting pieces that are so well made, full of rich beautiful and colorful fabrics, while maintaining a skilled balance of practicality and decadence, and of course keeping it fresh and young! My school had an Alex Katz show several years back. I fell in love with his simple portraits, particularly the ones of his wife Ada. She always looked to sophisticated yet innocent in his paintings. Here's a little guide I put together based on some of the paintings Alex did.
